Quality Control of Valentine's Day Gift Delivery

Customer support is our top priority, so every month we conduct a Quality Check survey among gift recipients to determine if our services were, overall, of top quality.
We have contacted 25 recipients living in Kiev, Lvov, Odessa, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, and Zaporozhie, along with a few other Ukrainian cities to whom we delivered flowers, gourmet baskets, jewelry, perfumes and other thoughtful gifts on Valentine’s Day. We concluded that:

•  96% of the recipients considered the gifts we delivered to be of high quality,
•  96% informed the couriers were very friendly and nice,
• 4% pointed out that delivery was performed with delays in thirty minutes or an hour
• 100% all the ladies commented they were very satisfied with our services.

Dear friends,, as you have probably understood there is no month in Ukraine without a holiday;-)  In spite of the recent popularity here of St. Valentine’s Day, the most important holiday for your lady will remain the one that we celebrate on the 8^th of March: International women’s day.

 

This date was chosen to celebrate all women: mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, co-workers, daughters, girlfriends, and fiancées. The 8^th of March officially marks the care and attention towards the gentler half of mankind.

Believe it or not we inherited International Women’s Day from the Socialist Party of America in 1909.  In 1910 in Copenhagen the idea of having a day, which unites women all over the world, was supported by famous socialist Clara Zetkin. In 1917 Kollontai, a minister in the first Soviet government, persuaded Lenin to make March 8^th an official holiday. During the Soviet period, the holiday was celebrated as the holiday of "the heroic woman worker". Today it is an official day off, and both men and women look forward to this holiday. It has lost its political meaning and now celebrates the unconditional love, sacrifice, patience, wisdom, and beauty of the Ukrainian women. This is the day when we congratulate our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, wives and girlfriends, and often one can hear congratulations even from the strangers in the street.

Men start to get ready for this holiday here in a week or so, and the morning of 8^th of March is famous for flower shops totally crowded with men. Although the local flower stores almost double the prices on this holiday [note: Unona’s prices do not change], lots and lots of flowers are sold as every woman in Ukraine receives a few bouquets on this day. Besides flowers the other presents on this day are chocolates, toys, jewelry, or perfumes.  Most importantly men try to make his women free from housework at least for one day, by inviting her to a restaurant or trying to cook and to clean up.

Merry Ukrainian Christmas!!!

Ukrainian Christmas is a wonderful traditional holiday when all members of the family gather to spend time together. This is the holiday of peace and joy. It is celebrated according to the Julian calendar and begins on January 6^th with Holy Dinner. When the first star appears in the sky the celebration starts, it means that Jesus Christ was born. Holy Dinner consists of twelve different dishes representing twelve Apostoles or twelve month. Traditionally, they all have to be meatless and milkless dishes. The first dish is “Kutya”. It is similar to pudding made from cooked wheat or rice, honey, raisins and nuts. Wheat symbolizes hope, honey means success and happiness. Then people go to church and listen to Christmas sermons

Nowadays not so many people keep a fast, and most Ukrainians prepare twelve dishes with meat, ham, milk and other products. The whole family gathers for dinner to share a good meal, enjoy warm atmosphere and have a good time. Some Ukrainians also invite their close friends for Christmas dinner. Godchildren bring traditional Christmas dish “Kutya” and handmade cakes to their godparents to have Holy Dinner together. Godparents give them gifts such toys, chocolates and fruits. Friends and relatives bring Christmas baskets filled with food, fruits, cookies, chocolates and wine.

On January 7^th children go from house to house, from flat to flat and sing carols, traditional holiday songs and wish everything good to people, adults give them sweets and money.
